“Selet-Raushan” summer session of the “Fensar” Academy for Intellectually Gifted Youth is a specialized summer session for schoolchildren – winners of Olympiads, conferences and competitions. The programme of the camp is aimed at the intellectual and spiritual development of its participants. During the first half of the day, children attend lessons. They can choose among the following schools:School of Physics and Mathematics, Natural Science School, Language School, School of Humanities, School of Programming and Information Technology. The lessons are conducted in the form of creative workshops, special courses, master classes and training sessions with the use of computer technologies. The teachers are scientists and professors of higher education institutions in Kazan, of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, famous public officials and public figures, workers of culture and art of the republic and successful businesspersons.
The aim of the project is to support science-oriented children and youth, their intellectual and spiritual development.
“Selet-Raushan” allows fulfilling two priority tasks:
- identifying and developing the gifted children, with the prospect of forming an intellectual elite in the scientific research centres of the Republic of Tatarstan;
- providing the schoolchildren from various cities and districts of the Republic of Tatarstan with access to affordable and essential education in order to meet their educational needs.
The first specialized session in “Selet” was organized in 1994 in Arsk with 65 schoolchildren as its participants. Since 2005, the session is held in the Laishevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan (“Zvezdnyj” children’s recreation centre). It brings together 220 schoolchildren from different places: districts and cities of the Republic of Tatarstan, federal subjects of the Russian Federation and countries of the near and far abroad.
